Reciprocity

So I had a meeting with one of my two networking groups this morning and then met one of the members for coffee afterwards.  We got into  an interesting conversation about how we network and make connections.  I was glad to hear that his perspective was similar to mine,  it is about introducing people to your network that can help them grow their business.  This opens a lot of doors, it goes beyond the pitch or what I do for a living and all of those other redundant networking questions.  If you owns business, you want to make it successful and find ways to make it grow, it is really that simple, and as a business contact if I can introduce someone who can help you accomplish this goal then you want to meet them.

I know this doesn’t  sound like rocket  science, but I am always amazed at how many people don’t think through  their networking or even have a plan other than handing out as many business cards as possible.

So the next time you are at a networking event think about who you invite into your network and can they help the people already in your network?  If not maybe they are not a good addition
